Nyx is a brand that I have been loving lately. Their products are affordable and the quality is great. Today, I want to talk about Nyx lipstick. The NYX soft matte lip creams have a mousse-like texture that goes on smoothly and sets to a matte finish. The formula is lightweight and doesn’t make your lips feel heavy or cracked. It has a pleasant vanilla cupcake scent that many people adore. However, I prefer lipsticks to be fragrance-free.

Packaging

The lip creams are packaged in a tiny, opaque tube that matches the hue of the lip cream. It includes a small wand with a doe-foot applicator and a black cap. The product information is printed on the tube itself.

Pigmentation

The lip tints are unevenly pigmented, with a single layer appearing patchy on the lips. So, if you don’t want certain parts of your lips to show through, it’s recommended that you apply a second coat. The NYX lip tints are great because they lay down smoothly and don’t crack or fall apart when applied two layers at a time. This beautiful color is named after the vibrant city of Sao Paulo in Brazil. The neon-ish and in-your-face hot pink are a little too bright on my NC 42 skin tone, and I believe it would look best on fair to medium skin tones. In only a few seconds, it dries to a matte finish. I used it as a tint to make this colorwork, which provides my lips a lovely rosy pink hue and is topped with a gloss for the most beautiful thing ever!

After being hesitant about using Sao Paulo, I tried Budapest, and now I’m happy!

Budapest

The shade is named after the city of Budapest, which is internationally recognized for its Opera House. It’s a deep mauve with crimson undertones that looks fantastic on everyone. With this combo, I have to apply two layers to get adequate coverage. To achieve a matte finish in Budapest, it takes at least 5-10 minutes.

Application

The NYX lip creams aren’t very pigmented and go patchy with just one layer, as previously stated. It’s not something a second layer can’t fix! When it comes to matte liquid lipsticks, they’re extremely soothing on the lips and rather low-drying. I adore using these lip creams as tints by dabbing a tiny amount on my lips. This method provides a lovely sheen and color to your lips, making it the only way I was able to get the hue Sao Paulo to work for me.

Staying Duration

The staying power is decent, and it lasts for 4-5 hours with drinks and snacks. Anything oily would break down the formula, leaving you with lips that are just topped with a lipliner on the perimeters. When compared to liquid lipsticks with a semi-matte finish that last all day long, I’ve tried liquid lipsticks with a more matte end. Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipsticks have stains that stay all day if you choose shades like Frick N Frack (a lovely nude lipstick for brown skin tone).

The final detail to bear in mind is that they are not transfer-proof, and the degree of this varies depending on the hue. In my situation, Sao Paulo transfers considerably more than Budapest.
